Got warrants? Friday event will help get them cleared

Those with warrants out of courts in Atlantic and Cape May counties will get a chance at a "Fresh Start" Friday. A Community Safe Surrender will give individuals a chance to clear their bench warrants out of most municipal and Superior Courts in the two counties. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Beacon Church in Galloway Township, and includes traffic, criminal, child support and juvenile complaints. Judiciary staff will work with individuals to schedule court appearances to resolve their cases. Spanish interpreters will be available. No one will be taken into custody. Those with outstanding matters in Galloway Township Municipal Court will be able to see a judge that day. Participants can also get proof of attendance to take to any out-of-county municipalities. Representatives from local social services and public agencies will also be available for legal, housing and veteran’s assistance. Also onhand wll be the 
HOPE ONE van, mental health and substance-abuse treatment and the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission. Judiciary staff will be available with information on Criminal Justice Reform, Recovery Court, municipal court and other Judiciary programs and services. Beacon Church is located at 420 S. Sixth Ave. The Coalition for a Safe Community will provide free transportation to and from the church. They will be at the following places at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m.
    • Stanley Holmes Community Room, 1539 Adriatic Ave., Atlantic City
    • Zion Lutheran Church, 312 Philadelphia Ave., Egg Harbor City
    • Ralph Peterson Community Center at New Hope, 300 Woodland Ave., Pleasantville
Participants also can speak to any NJ Transit police officer or Volunteers of America employee to arrange for transportation. Government identification such as a driver’s license, photo identification, school identification or a birth certificate will be required.
