Atlantic City officer injured while trying to arrest man

  • News

An Atlantic City police officer was injured while trying to remove a man from a home Christmas Eve.

Officers Jerard Ingenito and Michele Cardani responded to the beach block of Raleigh Avenue to serve a temporary restraining order against Jeffrey Pryor, and remove him from the residence, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.

The officers arrived at 1:22 p.m. and allowed Pryor to gather his belongings, according to the report. But, after about an hour, Pryor's behavior became more erratic and he refused to leave.

The officers tried to explain the situation to Pryor, who grabbed onto a pillar and refused to let go, Fair said.

Pryor was told he was under arrest, and Ingenito tried to place him in custody. But, Fair said. Pryor resisted, and both fell to the ground.

Pryor, 43, was arrested without further incident. Ingenito was injured and taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus, where he was treated and released.
