Three more indicted with alleged South Side Mob connections

  • News

An Atlantic City gunfight during the filming of a video last spring has led to indictments against more alleged members of a Pleasantville gang. Laque Boggs, Quamir Gerald and Quaheim Garner, all 21 years old, were indicted Thursday on nine charges stemming from a March 9 shooting in which Boggs already was arrested and Garner was injured. Police previously released that Garner was caught in the crossfire of the shooting between Boggs and an unidentified man, but in announcing the indictments, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner gave details about the battle. The three men were filming a video near the border of 8 Blok/Head Shot Gang territory when the gunfire erupted, Tyner said. Ballistics tests by the New Jersey State Police potentially connected the shell casings two other shootings. That includes a December 2016 shooting and a handgun recovered in an unrelated Atlantic City death investigation this past November. Further testing is being done to confirm the link, Tyner said. He did not detail either of those cases, but there was only one homicide involving a shooting in November. There have not yet been any arrests in that killing in Anchorage Court. The indictments handed up against the three men include first-degree gang criminality in possessing a community gun in association with, or for the benefit of, the South Side Mob criminal street gang. A community gun is one that is shared by different people. That would mean that, even if the same gun was used in those three incidents, it doesn’t mean Boggs, Gerald and Garner are linked to them all. The three are also charged with commission of harassment and cyber harassment. Boggs additionally charged with weapons offenses, including assault-by-pointing a firearm at or in the direction of citizen bystanders in the Meadows housing complex, which is where the March 9 shooting took place.

Gerald also faces charges of heroin and cocaine possession. Boggs is currently in custody. Gerald's and Garner's arrests are pending. The indictment followed a cooperative long-term gang investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns & Narcotics Unit, the Atlantic City Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit and the Pleasantville Police Department Street Crimes Unit.
