Two men arrested allegedly burglarizing Atlantic City home

  • News
Two men are charged with burglarizing an Atlantic City home Saturday. A resident called 911 just after 10 p.m., saying a home on the 100 block of North Florida Avenue was being burglarized, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. One of the men was acting as lookout, the caller said. Officers Ryan Kov and Bryan O’Neill found Joshua Nieves Cortes in the backyard, and took him into custody, Fair said. The second suspect, Jose Aponte, tried to run and started jumping a fence into the next yard, according to the report. Kov was able to chase him down, and take him into custody, Fair said. No one was home at the time. Police credited the quick actions of the caller for no property being stolen. Both Nieves Cortes, 28, and Aponte, 23, are from the city and had active contempt-of-court warrants. They were taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. Both were charged with burglary and conspiracy. Aponte was additionally charged with obstruction of justice. [gallery columns="2" ids="6255,6254"]
