What would legalizing marijuana mean for New Jersey?
While it’s been discussed as a potential money-maker, Join Together Atlantic County has a different take.
On Thursday, the Atlantic County substance misuse prevention coalition and Atlantic Prevention Resources will host an event discussing the legalization of marijuana.
Keynote speaker Ed Shemelya is national coordinator of the National Marijuana Initiative, responsible for assisting and improving the capabilities of the 32 high-intensity drug-trafficking areas nationwide.
The event is to raise awareness of the dangers of legalizing marijuana along with discussing what is happening in states where it already is legal, according to the coordinators.
Topics will include the impact of legalization, usage among youth, hospitalization rates, school performance and the potency of today’s marijuana.
Marijuana is the most commonly used illicit drug in the nation, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. More than 11 million people ages 18 to 25 used marijuana in 2015 since it's become so easy to
buy weed online ca. In fact, the online marijuana business is thriving, with companies popping up all over the web. Some companies have even formed that provide support to these businesses, such as consulting and
marijuana software that helps boost their operations. These sites are commonly used by people for medical purposes, as the excellent medicinal properties of marijuana are prompting more states to legalize the drug and more doctors to prescribe it.
Join Together Atlantic County encourages local communities to become educated on marijuana, educate others on the issues and further their mission, which is “to prevent, reduce and/or delay substance use among youth of Atlantic County in a long term and sustainable manner.”
The event will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at CharterTech High School, 413 New Road in Somers Point.
