Two Atlantic City teens charged in three convenience store robberies

  • News
Two Atlantic City men have been arrested in a string of convenience store robberies in the city. Police captured Ezekiel Harper and McKinley Bonner on Tuesday, after they were called to an armed robbery at a store in the 800 block of North Indiana Avenue at about 5:30 p.m., Sgt. Kevin Fair said. The clerk said two men armed with a handgun stole money, according to the report. A description of the suspects was broadcast to officers. At 9:19 p.m., Officers Robert Reynolds and George Mancuso tried to stop a man matching the description of one suspect at New York and Sewell avenues. As they turned their patrol car around to stop the male — later identified as Harper — he ran, Fair said. Perez found Harper, who continued to run with Perez in pursuit. Harper, 18, eventually surrendered to Sgt. Andrew Leonard and was placed in custody. While he was running, Harper threw a handgun that officers recovered, Fair said. He also had marijuana. After the arrest, a crowd began to form that included the other suspect, identified as Bonner, who is 19. Mancuso arrested him. An investigation led the pair to be charged in two other robberies. One was in the 1000 block of Pacific Avenue and the other was the 2500 block of Pacific Avenue, Fair said. The dates of the crimes were not given, but in both the clerk was robbed at gunpoint. Harper and Bonner each is charged with three counts each of robbery, conspiracy, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Harper is additionally charged with obstruction of justice, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Atlantic City police at 609-347-5766 or Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234. Information may also be texted anonymously to tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD. [gallery columns="2" ids="6342,6347"]
