Atlantic City man just released from prison arrested in two armed robberies

  • News
An Atlantic City man recently released after serving more than 15 years in prison for armed robberies was back at it again, police said. Victor Durham, 46, was arrested Tuesday in connection with two armed robberies of convenience stores on May 18, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. Detectives John Sharkey and Fariyd Holmes had been investigating the two robberies and recently identified Durham as their suspect when they saw him in the 1600 block of Atlantic Avenue, Fair said.
Durhan was released from prison March 5, after serving more than 15 years on armed robbery charges. As they tried to arrest Durham at about 1:50 p.m., he ran and tried to hide in a store, according to the report. He was then taken into custody without incident. Durham is charged with two robberies in the same day: one in the 1000 block of Pacific Avenue and one in the 400 block of Tennessee Avenue. In both incidents, Durham was armed with a handgun and stole money from the clerk, Fair said. Durham is jailed on two counts each of robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful person and certain person not to possess a weapon. Durham was just released from prison March 5, after serving almost 15 years and four months of a 17-year sentence on two armed robberies. His charges at that time also included witness tampering and two counts of criminal mischief, state Department of Corrections records show.
