A one-vehicle crash that downed wires closed Route 40 for several hours in Hamilton Township on Thursday.
Lawrence Potts, 58, of Franklinville, was heading west Route 40 when his car went off the right shoulder in the area of South Avenue just after 4 p.m., police said.
The 2017 Honda CRV struck a mailbox, a utility pole and an unoccupied structure, where came to a rest, according to the report.
The pole was broken, and wires were on the road, causing police to close it for several hours.
Potts was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries by the Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad.
