Hamilton Township police continue investigation into teen fights

  • News
Hamilton Township police continue to investigate several fights that broke out at the mall Saturday night. Police picked up surveillance tapes from the Hamilton Mall on Monday to aid in the investigation, Detective Larry Fernan said. He said he could not confirm whether the fights in the food court that caused the mall to close an hour early Saturday night were related to an earlier incident at nearby development. A video of fights among several teens at the Woodlands made the rounds on social media, but had mostly been erased from Facebook by Sunday morning. BreakingAC was able to obtain a copy of the video. A Snapchat of the fights was also posted warning, "Part 2 later." Whether that is what happened at the mall Saturday night has not been confirmed by police. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVJAWfvH8ak Officers were on directed patrol at the mall when the fights broke out due to warnings on social media that the brawls would happen, police previously said. "Obviously, we heard about the Woodlands video," Fernan said, adding that the time frame seems to fit. Eight teens were arrested Saturday, including a girl for an earlier incident that day. Seven teen have been arrested so far in the brawl at the mall, including 18-year-olds Amir Vaughan and Theron Parrish-Jordan. Vaughan told BreakingAC that he was not involved in the earlier incident at the Woodlands. When asked what his part in the fights were, he replied, "self-defense." More video from inside the mall obtained by BreakingAC shows officers spraying what is believed to be pepper spray at a group fighting. Fernan said he could not yet confirm what tactics were taken by police, but that pepper spray is used for crowd control. Anyone who had information about those involved in the fights or video that may help in the investigation is asked to contact Detective Perna at 609-625-2700, ext. 542 or send the video to the
Township of Hamilton Police Department's Facebook page via messenger. "Anyone we can identify, we're going to identify and possibly charge," Fernan said.
