Fake ACPD Facebook page promises beatings, gets taken down

  • News

A Facebook page that posted threatening statuses pretending to be the Atlantic City Police Department has been taken down.
Sgt. Kevin Fair said in a public message on the real Atlantic City Police Department Facebook page that the department had been aware of the spoof page since it started posting in December, but had been unsuccessful in getting it taken down.
"It has been reported to #Facebook numerous times, but they don't seem to care, or they feel it meets their guidelines," Fair wrote in a status Sunday night, after the latest spoof status brought the site to the attention of many.
Promising to beat up anyone's "baby's daddy pissing you off" and sending a video of it got more than 400 shares in just a few hours
"Feel free to report the page as it contains material that we clearly do not condone," wrote Fair, who later updated the status to reflect that the page had been removed.
It was not clear who started the page or if it would be investigated further.
