A Mays Landing man was arrested on drug and gun charges after a motor vehicle stop Saturday night.
Officer Ronald Gorneau stopped the car after multiple traffic violations, police said.
Rashon Purnell, 29, pulled over behind the Holiday Inn Express Absecon just after 5 p.m., then ran, according to the report.
Gorneau caught up with Purnell several blocks away.
Purnell had about 800 bags of heroin, marijuana, a loaded 9 mm handgun and more than $1,700 in cash, police said. They also found additional ammunition.
Purnell was charged with numerous offenses including obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, eluding police, possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a firearm during a drug offense and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
Purnell was being housed in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
