The woman on the other end of the line was hysterical.
Through screams and sobs, Eileen Leone spoke of men forcing their way in to her boyfriend's Egg Harbor Township home June 29, 2006.
"Please hurry up," she yells.
"Darius," she calls to her boyfriend, 32-year-old Darius Smith.
But Smith, a beloved local youth sports coach, was already mortally wounded.
It would take eight years for his killer to be charged.
Leone, who is now serving a 30-year sentence for murder, is the subject of this week's "Snapped" episode on the Oxygen network.
It tells the story of a woman whose drug addiction kept her family away and led to violent outbursts and possibly prostitution to pay for her habit.
After a day of fighting with Smith, Leone struck him in the back of the head with a fire poker. It was the only one without dust on it, according to information at her trial.
In the eight years before she was charged, Leone would be arrested on drug charges, plead guilty and sentenced to three years' probation.
