  • News
A Pennsylvania man pleaded guilty to attempted murder in a vicious knife attack on his former girlfriend
, who fled his moving car in Ventnor last year. David Legette, 54, of Bristol Township, Pa., admitted to attacking the 49-year-old woman inside an Atlantic City parking garage on July 2, then trapping her inside the car, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said. He faces 16 years in prison when he is sentenced July 20. The woman, whose name was not released due to the nature of the crime, was stabbed 19 times after the two met up inside the Caesar’s Atlantic City parking garage at about 10 p.m. She had an active restraining order against Legette at the time. After the stabbing, Legette child locked the car doors so the woman could not escape. But as he drove down Atlantic Avenue in Ventnor, the woman was able to reach out of the window and open the door from the outside, rolling out of the driver side back seat, and into the middle of Atlantic Avenue. Witnesses saw her throw herself from the vehicle, and called 911 as Legette sped off.
