Mullica police offer some deer advice for drivers

  • News
Mullica Township police are using a near-miss one of their patrol cars had with a deer to teach people how to handle a similar situation. Drivers should take extra caution when driving in the dark, was first on the list in a Facebook post of the dashcam footage. Don't swerve to avoid hitting a deer and don't be afraid to use your horn, they say. And, if you see deer in the area, be alert.
The department had some fun with the post, adding hashtags that included #DontYouDeer and @ForRealDoe. Deer have accounted for more than a half-million car insurance claims across the country from 2014 to 2017, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau. There were 122,650 last year. The most come from Pennsylvania. https://www.facebook.com/Mullicatownship.org/videos/1915902665183329/?t=11
