Mikey Pittman got his celebration — and even a day named after him.
The 26-year-old Special Olympian was supposed to be honored at a dinner with other athletes earlier this month, but his name got overlooked.
His mother — well known in her community as a staunch supporter of all special needs children — was moved to rectify the situation.
Angela Brooks Pittman first took to Facebook, letting her friends know about the oversight, and that she was determined to have a special celebration to mark her son's accomplishments.

Mikey Pittman won various metals in bowling along with track and field where, despite his blindness, he runs with an aide.
As a child, doctors didn't predict he would live, but his mother proudly talks of how he's flourished.
On Wednesday, Atlantic City Council honored him with a plaque and his own day, noting his mother's three decades as a city worker. They declared Oct. 24 "Mikey Pittman Day."
Then on Saturday, there was a celebration at Bally's Atlantic City, complete with limo ride and a red carpet.
"Mikey got his celebration he deserved and is extremely happy and has been blessed with numerous awards," his mother told BreakingAC. "It was an amazing day."
