An Atlantic City man who just got out of prison after serving more than nine years is back in jail after he was arrested in a car with drugs.
Jabril Mitchell, now 26, was 16 when he was arrested for pulling a gun on three Atlantic City police officers in 2008, and then attempting to shoot at one, according to the charges in that case. At 17, he admitted to three counts of aggravated assault and went to prison.
He was released July 6.
Mitchell was released July 6, according to state Department of Corrections records.
But on Saturday, he was a passenger in a driven by Joshua Brickhouse, who was pulled over by Pleasantville Police Officer Daniel Davis just after 11 p.m. in the area of the East Black Horse Pike and South Hampden Court, Capt. Matt Hartman said.
Brickhouse had his infant daughter in a car seat in the back, and drugs in the passenger compartment in front, according to the police report.
K-9 Officer Corey Crosby's partner, Ace, alerted police, who then searched the vehicle, Hartman said.
They found 1,000 wax folds of suspected heroin and less than 50 grams of marijuana.
The two were charged with possession of heroin, possession with intent to distribute more than a half-ounce of heroin and possession of marijuana.
Both men were taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility, pending detention hearings.
Brickhouse's daughter was picked up by a family member, Hartman said.
