Sunshine Bell hopes to live up to her name. The Pleasantville native likes to share her opinions, and friends have always enjoyed the humorous spin she gives to speaking her mind. “I’m the type of person that says whatever comes to mind,” Bell said. “Never in a harsh way but more so in a humorous way.” So she decided to start going live on Facebook, in hopes of brightening up her friends’ day. “People started encouraging me to either stay on my lives longer or come back with more,” Bell said. “So I decided to take it upon myself to start a YouTube channel out of it.” “The Sunshine Show” was born.

Then, when she was 20 weeks pregnant she found out she was expecting a boy. She also found out he had a congenital heart defect. The baby had hypoplastic right heart syndrome and tricuspid atresia. Bell wasn’t due until June 30. But when baby stopped growing, the doctors decided to induce June 19. Hasan had his first surgery — Blalock–Thomas–Taussig shunt — at birth. There will be at least two more: one at 4 to 5 months and another at 2 years old. “Being a first-time mom, you never think of things like this,” Bell said. “He changed my whole life for the better.” For the second surgery they are moving to Philadephia, where Hasan’s father, Zaire Bey, is from. Now, they are raising their son, and watching him inspire them. “He’s stronger than me,” Bell said of her 3½-month-old son. “It’s crazy.” She plans to vlog on YouTube, and hopes she can touch the lives of other “heart moms” as well. “This is something you never expect to happen but when it does, you just embrace it and let it make you stronger,” she said. “I mean, who would have known we would have such little fighters on our hands… our heart warriors.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2mxQRHh_5Q&feature=youtu.be
