  • News

A 16-year-old boy wanted in a shooting that wounded a man earlier this month has turned himself in.
A ShotSpotter alert brought police to the are of New York and McKinley avenues at about 8:30 p.m. Aug. 2.
Officers found a 58-year-old man shot.
It was the 16th nonfatal shooting in the city this year. There have been seven fatal shootings, six of them with victims 21 or younger.

An investigation by the Violent Crimes Unit found that the suspect approached the unnamed victim in an attempt to rob him at gunpoint, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. During the robbery attempt, the teen shot the man and fled.
Detectives positively identified the teen, who turned himself in to police at the Public Safety Building on Friday.
The teen, whose name is not being released due to his age, is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and robbery.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Violent Crimes Unit at 609-347-5788.  Information may also be texted anonymously to tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD.
