Eight teens arrested Sunday in three separate Ventnor cases

A 13-year-old Atlantic City boy was arrested, after he allegedly stole a car in Ventnor, and was found with a loaded handgun.The unnamed juvenile was one of eight teens charged in three separate cases investigated by Ventnor police Sunday.A delivery driver left his car running in the 6700 block of Ventnor Avenue at about 6:15 p.m., when it was stolen, Capt. Joe Fussner said.A few minutes later, Ventnor City Police Sgt. Bryan Gaviria initially saw the vehicle heading into Atlantic City on Ventnor Avenue. When Ventnor Officer Damian Guanchez tried to stop the vehicle, the driver kept going, Fussner said.The teen eventually stopped and was found with a loaded handgun.He was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, eluding, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, possession of prohibited devices (hollow-point bullets) and various motor vehicle violations. He was taken to the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center.The vehicle’s owner was issued a summons for leaving vehicle unattended with the engine running.

Mays Landing teen arrested with imitation gun

On Sunday afternoon, police recovered an imitation firearm from a 15-year-old Mays Landing boy after a Nashville Avenue resident called to report a suspicious male, Fussner said.The caller gave a detailed description of the boy, who was soon spotted by Sgt. Gaviria in the 5200 block of Ventnor Avenue.The officer found him with the imitation firearm and charged the teen with possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and various city ordinance violations. He was taken to Harborfields.

Six teens arrested in vehicle burglaries

Sunday began with six teens arrested for burglarizing seven vehicles in Ventnor Heights.A resident called 911 at 2:47 Sunday morning, saying several individuals were burglarizing parked vehicles in the area of Burke and Cambridge avenues.Patrol officers led by Lt. Frank O’Neill and Sgt. Patrick Hilter found six teens who tried to run away, Fussner said.Atira Rice, 18, along with two 15-year-old boys, a 14-year-old girl, and a 17- and 14-year-old boy were charged with burglary, theft, obstruction and conspiracy. The juveniles were additionally charged with a curfew violation.All were released on summonses.
