Residents of two units were displaced after a fire in Pleasantville early Tuesday morning.No one was injured.Firefighters were called to the 100 block of West Decatur Avenue at about 12:40 a.m. for a porch fire, Police Capt. Matt Hartman said.Before units arrived, more calls came in that flames were visible, and people could heard screaming in the background, according to the report.When officers arrived, the second-floor porch/deck was fully engulfed, Hartman said.The residents of both units had escaped and were confirmed safe.Fire Battalion 4 arrived and was able to contain the fire, and had it under control with a half-hour, Hartman said.There was smoke and water damage throughout the building. Pleasantville firefighters were assisted by fire personnel from Atlantic City, Atlantic
City International Airport, Absecon, Northfield, Cardiff and Ventnor. Tricare EMS and the American Red Cross also assisted at the scene.The displaced residents were relocated to temporary housing.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
