A Camden County man was arrested after allegedly leading Atlantic City police on a chase.
Officer Jesse Oliver-Logan saw a car with no license plates parked near New York and Pacific avenues just after 3 a.m. Friday, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
When Michael Carty got into the car after leaving a convenience store, Oliver-Logan tried to stop him, according to the police report.
Carty ignored the lights and sirens and sped off, Fair said. He crashed the car into a median on Route 30. But that didn’t stop him, Fair said.
With the car severely damaged and smoking, Carty drove away.
He eventually stopped and surrendered to Galloway Township police.
The car was reported stolen from Voorhees Township on Thursday night.
Absecon and Galloway Township police assisted in the arrest.
Carty, 35, was charged with eluding, receiving stolen property and multiple traffic summonses.
He was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
