  • News

A Galloway Township man is jailed in a shooting that damaged property in Pleasantville.
Reuben Cenat, 20, was arrested Friday, four days after he discarded a loaded gun and ran from police, Capt. Matt Hartman said.
Police were called to 22 W. Pleasant Ave. on June 22, for a ShotSpotter alert that four rounds had been fired.
Patrol units arrived to find several residences had been hit, Hartman said. No one was injured.
An investigation by Detective Pablo Solorzano, of the Violent Crimes Unit, along with the Street Crimes Unit led to the identification of Cenat, according to the report.
On June 24, Patrol Sgt. Girard Tell recognized Cenat, who was seen discarding a loaded .45-caliber handgun and fled.
Officer recovered the gun but could not find Cenat, Hartman said.
A warrant was issued for unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
On Friday, Street Crimes Officers Mike Mabkhouti and Matt Stricker found Cenat, and arrested him on the warrant, Hartman said.
On Monday, Solorzano signed charges for aggravated assault and weapons offenses related to the shooting.
He is being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
“The various units of the Pleasantville Police Department worked in concert with one another to produce this outcome," Hartman said. "(They) should be commended for their dedication and hard work"
