An Atlantic City man was arrested Sunday night after he crashed his dirt bike into several pedestrians on the Boardwalk, including three women.
George Jones, 22, was heading east on a Suzuki dirt bike at a high rate of speed at about 11:25 p.m., when he swerved to avoid a child and lost control, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
He crashed into the back of three women in the 1700 block, and then tried to leave the area, according to the report. But several bystanders held him until police arrived.
Two of the women were seriously injured and taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for treatment. The third woman was treated at the scene.
Jones was charged with three counts of assault by auto and disorderly conduct, and also received multiple traffic summonses, Fair said.
He was released on a summons.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Atlantic City police at 609-347-5744. Information may also be texted anonymously to tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD.
Residents are also asked to call 911 or tip411 to report the locations of illegal off-road vehicles.
