  • News

A stop at an Atlantic City restaurant in an allegedly stolen car led to the arrests of three Philadelphia teenagers and a loaded handgun, police said.
Officers Ermindo Marsini and Robert Reynolds were called t the 2400 block of Atlantic Avenue at 7:35 p.m. Tuesday, after the owners of a vehicle stolen from Northfield the day before said they found the car, according to the report.
An investigation led the officers into the restaurant where they found 19-year-old Jordan Barreto with a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
The three were arrested for theft. But as Officer Malik Tolbert gathered the girl’s jacket from the chair where she was sitting, he found a handgun loaded with hollow-point ammunition, Fair said.
The girl initially provided police with false information when she was asked her name, according to the report.
The 17- year-old was found to have an active warrant for his arrest out of Philadelphia, Fair said. He was also found in possession of marijuana.
Barreto and the girl were charged with theft by means of conveyance, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of hollow-point ammunition and hindering apprehension.
Barreto was additionally charged with giving a firearm to a juvenile and use of a juvenile in commission of a crime.
The 17-year-old was charged with receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and being a fugitive from justice.
Barreto was sent to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
The two teens were taken to the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center in Egg Harbor City.
