Atlantic County seeks help in solving open 2015 homicides

  • News

Investigators are looking for help in closing two unsolved homicide cases from 2015.
Ronald Williams and Christian Gibbs were killed within a four-day span back in July 2015, and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Major Crimes Unit is hoping someone will come forward to bring closure to the cases.
“These homicides have not been forgotten,” Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said. “For anyone who thinks that the murders of these victims do not matter, they are wrong. These crimes threaten the safety of our entire community. We are committed to pursuing those responsible and prosecuting them to the fullest extent of the law.”
Tyner did not say if the homicides are believed to be connected in any way.
Just after midnight July 10, 2015, Pleasantville police were called to Atlantic Avenue, where they found Ronald Williams suffering from a gunshot wound.
The 23-year-old Pleasantville man was rushed to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, where he died.
Three days later, a report of gunshots brought Atlantic City police to the area of Baltic and Rev. Dr. Isaac S. Coles Plaza just before 5 a.m.
There, they found 25-year-old Christian Gibbs dead of a gunshot wound.
The Egg Harbor Township man had been the victim of two previous shootings: one in Atlantic City in 2013, and another
in Pleasantville in 2010.
There were six homicides investigated that month, including a murder-suicide in Mullica Township and a fatal stabbing in Atlantic City that led to a police officer killing the suspect.
The killings of Williams and Gibbs are the only two that remain unsolved.
Major Crimes detectives are hoping the public can help change that.
