Margate police seek burglary suspect

  • News

Margate police are looking for a man who broke into a liquor store and stole a cash register drawer.
At about 3 a.m., the suspect described threw a rock through the front door of Downbeach Liquor at 7950 Ventnor Ave., shattering the glass, police said.
The suspect, described as a 5-foot-7 to 6-foot white male with a thin build, then took a drawer from one of the checkout terminals and left.
Police did not disclose the amount of cash taken.
The man left on a bicycle with the drawer under his arm, and headed toward Ventnor.
Police released surveillance pictures.
A blue bandanna type garment was used to cover his face. He was wearing blue jeans, a light-colored hooded sweatshirt and white sneakers.

Anyone who recognizes the man should call Margate police at 609-822-1151. The case is being investigated by Officers Michael Heath and Jack Schall.
