Pleasantville football players add their 'prayers for Micah'

  • News

Some Pleasantville High School football players got to cheer on a special fan Tuesday.
Several Greyhounds added their voices to a video for Micah, the 10-year-old boy who was shot during the team's playoff game Friday night.
Shannon Washington Sr. already films all the team's games. So, on Friday, he created a short video to honor his baby cousin, who remains in critical but stable condition.
"I decided to put this together with a few players from the Greyhounds football team to show our love for Micah," he said. "It affects everybody. We are truly saddened behind what took place."
The six players participated in the video Tuesday, the day before they were set to resume the interrupted game against Camden High School's Panthers.
The Eagles stepped up and offered their home field, Lincoln Financial Field, as the venue. That is set for 4 p.m. Wednesday, with ticketed family and friends allowed in. There will also be a livestream of the game.
But many minds will still be on the little boy critically wounded as he watched the game Friday night.
"Micah is family," Washington said. "This is motivation to the team and to the families, friends and community."
He intends to forward the video to Micah's mother so she can see the support and play it for her son.
