A convicted sex offender living in Little Egg Harbor is jailed for allegedly getting a 13-year-old girl to sent him sexually explicit pictures and engage in sexually explicit conduct online.
David Frew, 41, is accused of using an online messaging service to contact the girl who lives in Canada, beginning in June 2017, according to the complaint.
Frew asked the girl to send him images of her naked body parts, and eventually asked her to do sexually explicit things on video chat, the complaint states.
The charges are similar to ones Frew was convicted of in 2008, after he sent sexually explicit photos and videos to an account he believed was a minor, but instead were investigators with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Child Predator Unit, who were posing online as underage girls.
He also was convicted in New Jersey that same year for endangering the welfare of a child, records show.
While Frew was registered as a sex offender in both states and was living in Ocean County, he is not among those listed on the online registry.
Due to his history, Frew could face life in prison for the charge of online enticement.
He also is charged with sexual exploitation, which carries a term of 25 to 50 years, due to his prior convictions.
The charge of receipt of child pornography carries a potential 15 to 40 years in prison.
