The Atlantic City man accused of opening fire at a packed high school football playoff game and fatally wounding a young boy will stay in jail.
Alvin Wyatt, 31, was ordered held pending the outcome of the case at a detention hearing Wednesday.
Shahid Dixon allegedly alerted Wyatt that Ibn Abdullah — the apparent target of the shooting — was in the stands at the crowded Pleasantville High School playoff game.
Wyatt then came to the game and shot. Abdullah was wounded, along with 10-year-old Micah Tennant and a 15-year-old boy.
The teen was treated and released. Micah died days later.
His funeral is set for Saturday.
"The fact he would go to a football game and just randomly point his gun and shoot in the crowded stands" shows he's a danger, Chief Assistant Prosecutor Seth Levy told the judge.
He could have waited until his target was alone, but instead "pointed his gun and fired away.
"Wyatt previously served prison time for a gun charge. His parole was finished in March, he told Judge Bernard DeLury.
Dixon along with three others are accused of fleeing the shooting, and then ditching a gun before pulling over for a car stop in Absecon.
Dixon is being held on a violation of Recovery Court warrant. Vance Golden was held following a detention hearing last week.
Michael Mack and Tyrell Dorn had detention hearings following Wyatt's. Both were ordered held.
But their attorneys said they are being punished due to an unfair link to the murder case.
Three men were seen fleeing the shooting, and getting into a car. But when it was pulled over, there were four men inside.
That fourth man was Mack, his attorney said.
Matthew Portella said Mack came to the game with his brother but in the confusion and fear that followed the gunfire, he couldn't find him. So, he got a ride with the three men, who he knew.
Dorn's attorney, Michael Schreiber questioned whether his client could get a fair trial, since the case has been linked to the deadly shooting, citing media accounts.
Levy said that he does not follow media reports on his cases, and that the only one mentioning the murder case was Schreiber.
