One of four men stopped in a car that allegedly fled the fatal Pleasantville High School football game shooting has been ordered held pending trial.
Vance Golden was one of four men stopped in a car that allegedly fled the shooting that mortally wounded 10-year-old Micah Tennant.
Tennant died Wednesday.
Golden's fiancee spoke with him in a phone call after the hearing, she told BreakingAC.
"He sends his condolences to Micah's family, who is related to his son," Crystal Holmes said. "Vance is innocent and the truth will be told, he was at the wrong place at the wrong time."
Alvin Wyatt was allegedly called to the scene via FaceTime chat after Shahid Dixon spotted Ibn Abdullah in the stands.
In what the prosecutor has called "petty vengeance," Wyatt came to playoff game and opened fire in the crowded stands, aiming for Abdullah.
Tennant and Abdullah were both critically injured. A 15-year-old suffered a wound to his arm.
Wyatt was apprehended at the scene.
Golden, Dixon, Tyrell Dorn and Michael Mackfled in a car that was pulled over in Atlantic City after a gun was thrown from it on the bridge entering the resort via Absecon, according to the charges.
Defense attorney Jake Bayak said his client was not involved in the incident, and "was quite literally along for the ride with this one."
But Chief Assistant Prosecutor Seth Levy said bringing a gun to a crowded event, fleeing and then throwing a gun while eluding police all show layers of danger to the public.
Judge Bernard DeLury agreed and ordered him held, citing his "callousness for the safety of others... speaks to an utter disregard for the lives of others."
Golden's criminal record includes a robbery in 2010, for which he was sentenced to six years in prison. He also had a 2017 drug case that resulted in a suspended sentence.
Dorn also briefly appeared in court, only to have his detention hearing postponed. But his attorney,
Michael Schreiber, told the judge that Dorn wanted to make sure people knew he was not involved in the shooting.
He said Dorn is "mortified" by what happened.
The prosecution withdrew a detention motion for Dixon, who already is being kept in jail by a Recovery Court violation.
The remaining defendants have detention hearings next Wednesday, including alleged shooter Wyatt.
