New Jersey State Police are investigating after a fatal accident involving a ride a the Deerfield Township Harvest Festival on Saturday.
The 10-year-old girl was ejected from the ride at 6:18 p.m. Saturday, and was airlifted to Cooper Health Systems in Camden, where she was pronounced dead at 7:20 p.m., State Police confirmed.
The cause and circumstances of her death remain under investigation.
The ride, called "Extreme," described as a Wisdom Super Sizzler amusement park ride.
The festival was scheduled to continue Sunday "to offer a place for the community to come together in the wake of this tragedy," the festival's website said.
The amusement rides and games area are closed.
A planned parade was also canceled.
