A former Long Beach Township police sergeant was sentenced to a year of probation Thursday for accessing law enforcement computer databases for personal reasons.
Gerard Traynor, 53, who is also a Long Beach Island attorney, is now barred from employment with a public entity, under the plea agreement, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said.
He forfeited his job as of April 16, 2018.
That same month, he used the police computer system to obtain information on two individuals for personal reasons, Billhimer said .
The prosecutor thanked his office’s Professional Standards Unit and the Long Beach Township Police Department for their efforts in connection with the investigation.
