Four Atlantic City teens were charged with weapons offenses after they were pulled over with a loaded handgun, police said.
Sgt. Henry White pulled over the car just before 7 p.m. Friday, after police were told the driver did not have a license.
The vehicle sped off when White activated his lights, so he turned off his lights and followed while other officers came to the area as a safety precaution, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
The car finally pulled over in the 200 block of Albany Avenue, according to the report.
The two 14-year-old boys and two 16-year-old boys were taken into custody, Fair said.
The 14-year-olds were both found in possession of marijuana, according to the report. One of the 16-year-olds had cocaine.
The gun was found inside the car.
No summonses have yet been issued for driving without a license as police still are determining who was driving, Fair said.
All four were charged with eluding and weapons offenses.
The one 16-year-old was charged with cocaine possession. The two younger boys were charged with marijuana possession.
All four were taken to the Harborfields Detention Facility.
