Driver charged in EHT crash that downed wires

An Atlantic City woman was charged with driving while intoxicated Wednesday, after a crash that closed part of the Black Horse Pike.Ashley Dow, 25, was driving east at about 12:38 a.m., when she lost control of her vehicle and struck two utility poles, Lt. Robert Gray said.The impact caused a third pole to snap and wires to come into the roadway, according to the report.The crashclosed the road in both directions and took out electricity in the area from Uibel to Spruce avenues, Gray said.Dow sustained minor injuries, but refused transport to the hospital, Gray said.She was charged with DWI. More motor vehicle summonses are pending.The crash is being investigated by Officer Pat Daly.
