12-year-old arrested after crashing stolen car in Atlantic City

  • News

An Atlantic City 12-year-old was arrested after crashing a stolen car Monday, police said.
A concerned resident stopped Officer Aaron Jones on New Jersey Avenue at about 9:50 a.m. to tell him that a juvenile was driving a vehicle at a high rate of speed, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
Jones tried to stop the car, but the driver refused, then crashed into a police in the 600 block of Connecticut Avenue, according to the report.
The boy was arrested without incident.
The car had been reported stolen earlier in the morning.
The boy's mother arrived on the scene. The child, whose name was not released due to his age, was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus to be checked out.
He was charged with receiving stolen property, eluding and multiple motor vehicle summons.
He was released into the custody of his mother.
