Atlantic City comedian Michelle Tomko is reviving her one-woman show Monday evening.
"Yo Eleven!" was developed last year, when Tomko received one of a dozen fellowships presented by Images and Voices of Hope.
The name refers what bettors yell at the craps table so that 11 isn't confused with the similarly sounding seven.
Taking a twist on that, Tomko named her show to represent Atlantic City's community that is often forgotten amid the shadows of the casinos, celebrity appearances, state takeovers and quarterly numbers.
Through the show, Tomko takes on the persona of several people she's met in the city that offer different takes on those that live there.
During the shutdowns from the pandemic, Tomko has worked to highlight the positive in the city and continue to work her craft in various ways.
She started the Atlantic County Good News and Gratitudes Facebook page as a way for people to share their positive stories and find a reprieve from all that has been wrong with 2020.
In 2018, Michelle accepted a four-year appointed seat on the Atlantic City Arts Commission. She had written everything from movie reviews to trade articles to poker columns.
She currently covers local events in Atlantic City for her own Tomkomedy as well as The Thread SJ.
The students at the Stockton Performing Arts Center have now transformed her one-woman show into a recorded piece, with the help of the Atlantic City Arts Commission, along with co-sponsors Stockton University and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
