Atlantic City Surveillance Center personnel helped capture a man who allegedly fired a gun Monday.
A ShotSpotter alert notified police of gunfire in the 400 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at 9:41 p.m., Lt. Kevin Fair said.
When officers arrived, they found no evidence of gunfire or any witnesses, according to the report.
But a review of surveillance camera coverage of the area showed a man shooting a handgun, Fair said.
Less than an hour later, a man matching the suspect's description returned to the area, and Surveillance Center staff notified patrol officers.
Officer La'Tray Butcher found Lamar Cherry, who threw a handgun to the ground as the officer approached, according to the report.
Cherry, 28, of Atlantic City, was taken into custody without incident.
He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on charges of unlawful possession of a weapon and certain person not to possess a weapon.
