Atlantic City man admits killing teen

An Atlantic City man pleaded guilty in the 2018 killing of a 17-year-old.Michael Shaheed McLaughlin was shot in broad daylight on Aug. 9, 2018.He was found outside the Carolina Apartment complex at about 1 p.m.
Rahsaad Norwood was arrested two days later and has been in the Atlantic County Justice Facility since.
Last week, Norwood pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner announced Monday.
Norwood — whose first name is listed as Rashaad in some records — had just been released from a halfway house about 2½ months before the fatal shooting, records show.
He had served more than 2½ years in prison for an aggravated assault that happened when he was 16, court records show.
Now 22, Norwood faces 25 years in prison when he is sentenced March 12. He would have to serve at least 85 percent under the No Early Release Act.
McLaughlin, known to his loved ones as DC Keal, would have been going into his senior year of high school in Cumberland County. He lived in Bridgeton with his mother but also split time with his father, who lives in Atlantic City’s Bungalow Park.
