Family of slain EHT man offers $10,000 reward tip leading to killer

Arty Barrera's family talks about his killing and the search for justice.

  • News

Arty Barrera had his whole life ahead of him, his father said.

The 24-year-old Egg Harbor Township man was fatally shot Jan. 2, in the Vermont Avenue home where he had been living.

"Our lives were changed forever," said Arty's father, Art Barrera. "Somebody knows what happened to my son."

Now, they are hoping a $10,000 reward will entice someone to come forward.

"I don't want another family to go through this," said Marlene Barrera, who cried as she spoke of her son's killing. "That's why I beg you to share information because there are murderers on our streets right now."

Anyone with information can also reach out to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office at 609-909-7666 or Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234.

Cyndi Balles, of Crime Stoppers, assured anonymity to anyone calling in or going to the Crime Stoppers website.
