EHT man killed in Ocean Heights crash

  • News

An Egg Harbor Township man was killed in a crash in the township Saturday morning.
Adam Stover, 41, made a left turn from Virginia Avenue onto Ocean Heights in front of a Mack truck, according to police.
Clifford Grant, 57, of Estell Manor, was driving the truck north on Ocean Heights at about 8:40 a.m., when he struck Stover's Honda Civic, according to the report.
The truck's momentum then pushed Stover's vehicle onto the other side of the road.
Both vehicles went through a utility pole along the road's shoulder, police said.
Grant was not injured.
Stover was trapped in his vehicle and succumbed to his injuries.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Traffic on Ocean Heights Avenue was diverted for about six hours due to the investigation on scene, as well as for the replacement of the utility pole.
Both the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad and Scullville Fire Company responded to assist the police department with treatment and extrication.
Assisting at the scene were the New Jersey State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit and the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
This crash is being investigated by Sgt. Larry Graham, and Officers Robert Moran and Edward Stearns of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit.
Anyone who has information about the crash or may be a witness is asked to call the Egg Harbor Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit at 609-926-2643.
