Atlantic City's Surveillance Center personnel track down robbery suspect

A Camden man was arrested after he allegedly fled a robbery on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
Surveillance Center personnel tracked Personnel Assist in Locating Boardwalk Robbery Suspect
Patrol officers were called to the Celebrity Corner Beach Bar and Grill on the Boardwalk at Montpelier Avenue just before 7 p.m. Sunday, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Otis Vidal, 34, had allegedly entered the restaurant and tried to steal a tip jar, according to the report. An employee was able to grab the jar, but Vidal got a small amount of cash and tried to run.
A second employee closed the door and confronted Vidal, who pushed the employee and fled, Fair said.
The employee was treated for an injury at the scene.
Surveillance Center personnel reviewed footage of the area, and saw Vidal leaving the Boardwalk and walking along Pacific Avenue. where he removed his shirt to alter his appearance, Fair said.
He then returned to the Boardwalk, where Surveillance Center personnel advised responding officers.
Officer John Bell arrested Vidal about an hour after the call in the 2600 block of the Boardwalk, about five blocks from where the robbery happened.
He was arrested without incident and charged with robbery.
Vidal was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
