Officers were called to the Rodeway Inn just before noon Wednesday, and told the man had a knife and handgun, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
While officers were responding the scene, officers in the Surveillance Center saw Ramel Harris fleeing the area.
Surveillance personnel followed him on cameras as he ran onto the Boardwalk, according to the report.
Detectives Darrin Lorady and Nicholas Berardis confronted Harris in the beach block of Morris Avenue.
He was arrested after a brief struggle, Fair said.
Harris, who initially gave officers a fake name, was allegedly found with a knife. Police searched Harris' path, but found no gun.

He was charged with being a fugitive from justice, possession of a weapon, obstruction of justice and resising arrest.
