Firefighters were called to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City for a smoke bomb.
The incident led to the evacuation of the 18th floor, Fire Chief Scott Evans said.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters assisted Hard Rock facilities workers in get the smoke cleared.
Security was reviewing surveillance to see who put it off.
