COVID-19 prompts removal of A.C. Expressway toll takers

  • Covid 19

Government officials have been urging as many people as possible to stay home, but for those of you who need to travel, you may want to keep some loose change handy if you plan on taking the Atlantic City Expressway. In an effort to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, the South Jersey Transportation Authority has suspended cash collections for toll locations on the AC Expressway.

All tolls will be collected electronically or with coins in all exact change lanes. E-ZPass drivers will not see any changes as toll amounts will be deducted from the account balance, as usual. Drivers without E-ZPass, or those who don't have exact change, will have a picture of their license plate taken as they drive through the toll. An invoice will be mailed to the vehicle's registered owner for the cash toll rate. No administrative fees will be charged. Those looking to open an E-ZPass account can do so by calling the New Jersey E-ZPass Customer Service Center at 888-AUTO-TOLL (888-288-6865) or you can visit www.ezpassnj.com. .
