A Gloucester County man was arrested in Atlantic City after he was found with heroin and a handgun inside a car Wednesday, police said.Lt. Daniel Corcoran saw Stefano Santiago — who does not have a valid driver's license — driving on Pacific Avenue at about 2: 25 p.m., Sgt. Kevin Fair said.Santiago then parked on the first block of South Bellevue Avenue.
As Corcoran and Lt. Andrew Leonard approached him, Santiago was ripping open a bag of heroin, according to the report.Santiago, 24, of Newfield, was taken into custody without incident. Corcoran found a loaded handgun in the center console of the vehicle, Fair said.
Santiago was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and a motor vehicle summons.
Santiago, who has a conviction from a 2015 drug case, was also charged with certain persons not to possess a weapon. He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
