Heavy winds caused about 4,700 Atlantic City Electric customers to lose power Tuesday afternoon.
Wind gusts of more than 50 mph caused damage to trees and power equipment, spokesman Frank Tedesco said.
As of 3:21 p.m., about 1,800 customers were still without power.
"Crews are working to restore service for our customers as safety and as quickly as possible," Tedesco said. "Crews are also ready to respond as we may see additional intermittent outages due to the strong winds expected through today and this evening."
