  • News

Pleasantville police are investigating an armed carjacking that led to a police chase into Atlantic City on Monday night.
The victim told police that several suspects stole the vehicle from the 1100 block of McKinley Avenue at about 8:30 p.m., Capt. Matt Hartman said.
She said that one was armed with a gun.
Patrolman Marcus Ware saw the vehicle fleeing east on the Black Horse Pike toward Atlantic City.
The vehicle continued over the Albany Avenue Bridge and to Atlantic Avenue in the city, according to the report.
Ware had to stop the pursuit due to vehicle issues, Hartman said.
The vehicle was later found by Atlantic City officers in the area of Ohio and Marmora avenues.
A group of teen boys walking from the area were stopped by the officers, according to the report.
Officers who backtracked the suspects' travel path found the stolen vehicle's keys, the victim's cell phone and a semi-automatic handgun similar to the one the victim described, Hartman said.
Two 16-year-olds and one 17-year-old all from Atlantic City were taken in for questioning at the Pleasantville Police Station.
One was lodged in the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center on an unrelated warrant.
The other two were released pending further investigation.
Sgt. Brandon Stocks and Detective Juan Morillo, of Pleasantville's Violent Crimes Unit, are investigating.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 609-641-6100 or Atlantic County Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234.
