With Thanksgiving next week and families still left struggling, there are several food giveaways in the area.
From hot meals as part of the eight-week "Community Feeding Tour" to free turkeys and all the Thanksgiving fixings, organizations in the area are reaching out to help.
The Community Food Bank's latest distribution is going on until 1 p.m. Thursday at the Bangladesh Community Center in Atlantic City.
On Saturday, the Food Bank will distribute food from 9 a.m. to noon at the Zion United Methodist Church in Egg Harbor Township's Bargaintown section.
Saturday will also have the Atlantic City Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi giving away turkeys in three locations.
With the help of sponsors GreenLife Energy Solutions and PVC3 Builders, Elder J.P. Ministries will distribute turkeys first from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Second Baptist Church in Atlantic City. From 2 to 4 p.m., the group will be at Pleasantville City Hall, then from 5 to 6 p.m. they will be at the Philadelphia Village Apartments in Egg Harbor City.
Thanksgiving baskets will be available in Hammonton beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday courtesy of St. Alphonsus M. Liguori and Saints Peter and Paul Traditional Catholic Parish.
