Fans will return to Pleasantville High School football on Friday, when the team hosts Cedar Creek.
But there will be restrictions in place both due to COVID-19 and safety issues after a fatal shooting last year.
Only 250 spectators will be allowed in the stands, the Pleasantville Police Department announced.
All spectators must enter the field through the main gate accessible from the main parking lot. }
Those entering through the one access point will also be subject to enhanced security measures, police said.
They must go through a metal detector with a wand that will be used if someone sets off the detector.
This comes after a Nov. 15, shooting as Pleasantville High hosted Camden in a playoff game.
Micah Tennant, 10, was shot and died five days later, having never regained consciousness.
The significance of the return to the field was addressed in a news release from Danny Adcock, director of security and safety for Pleasantville's schools.
"Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the family of young Micah," he wrote.
"In preparation for the game, the district has enhanced its security measures to ensure the safety of all of the fans, players and participants at the game," Adcock wrote. "There will be a significant police presence and additional security officers assigned to the game."
The number of spectators allowed does not include participants or those on the field, such as coaches, trainers, officials and cheerleaders.
Spectators are required to remain in the stands with masks on at all time with the exception of while eating or drinking.
No one can stand along the fence, and both the home and visitor stands will be marked with X’s where people cannot sit to allow for social distancing.
Tickets are $3 for adults and $2 for children and senior citizens.
