The alleged driver in an Egg Harbor Township armed robbery attempt captured on a doorbell camera is now jailed.
John Cramer, known by Jake, is allegedly why the victim was targeted.
The alleged gunman who was ordered held last month was soliciting ideas for victims as well as a ride when he reached out to Cramer, according to information shared at Cramer's detention hearing Monday.
Brandon Gonzales, 21, is accused of brandishing a gun at the victim, and trying to get the man to walk into his Egg Harbor Township home.
“Walk into the crib, bro. I don’t want to have to blast you, dog,” the suspect says. “I know what you got. I need it.”
“I don’t got anything,” the victim responds.
In video from the Ring.com, the victim is seen being followed by a man pointing a gun at him. The victim then breaks his own window before turning to confront the startled gunman.
The two then exchange words before the gunman takes off and gets into a car, which fled toward Dorset Avenue.
An investigation found the car is registered to Cramer, who was arrested Sept. 26.
The victim did not know Gonzales, but has known Cramer for years, he told BreakingAC.
The incident happened just weeks after a township man was fatally shot inside his home.
That killing has not been solved. Authorities have not publicly linked the two incidents.
Cramer was ordered held pending trial.
